Heading out of town, Prescott, AZ |
Drove to Prescott, AZ Saturday morning. In route we stopped in the little town of Chino Valley, AZ to attend an "event" being held there at the Granite Peak Vineyard. Wine tasting, catered luncheon, blues band and local artisans peddling their wares. Not a big affair but very local and very enjoyable. We then drove on to Prescott and found another "event" going on in the very center of town. Huge arts and crafts fair along with an Arizona Wineries wine tasting booth. We participated in the wine tasting and meandered through maybe a third of the artist booths. This was not your typical arts and crafts fair. A large percentage upscale artists peddling wares priced in the hundreds and above. Some beautiful work displayed here. We then walked across the street to The Palace Inn for a late lunch. We were drawn there because they advertised "deep fried artichoke hearts" for an appetizer and we love "deep fried artichokes". Found it to have an old west decor and discovered it was used in an old Steve McQueen movie. Good food, great ambiance. We had planned to visit Sedona the same day but had to save it for another day. Its wonderful to have that flexibility.
