St. George, Utah

Randy and Sheila, our number one reason for the
trip westward.

Awesome scenery

Just a preview of what's to come.

Those pesky "Happy Campers"  again!

Snow on the mountain! And I'm not referring to
the hair on my head either.

We got "high" today. The good kinda high!!😁

We arrived in St. George yesterday. Met up with Randy and Sheila this morning and were treated to a spectacular tour of the surrounding area. We previewed Bryce Canyon and Zion thanks to expert tour guides and even got a sugar high by visiting a German Bakery for lunch. As you can see above, we also made it to an elevation of 10,460 '. That's two "highs" in one day!  Life is good.

Grand Canyon 2021

                                                                        The "Grand"

Canyon

One of those pesky happy campers.

Another view!!

                                                                         And another!!

This is the Hopi House that has been sitting on the
rim of the canyon since 1904. Designed from ancient
                                           Hopi Indian architecture.

Sign above the entry way to El Tovar Hotel.
Opened its doors in 1905 and has hosted such
dignitaries as Theodore Roosevelt, Albert Einstein,
and Zane Grey.

Some more pesky campers. Note there "new"
attire.

Train robbers!!!

Train robber fleecing the passengers.
Casey offered him Phil's covid mask
but he said he already had one.

Charlotte's hunk a hunk of burning love.
He said she pinched him but she denies it.

My hussy!!

This sign was posted on the men's bathroom
wall. I'm not sure to what they are referring.

Wednesday was Grand Canyon day. Phil and Casey took the train. They got robbed by some horseback riding bandits but made it to the canyon unscathed. Charlotte and I drove and arrived just about the same time as the train. We didn't get robbed though. The views from the rim are quite spectacular and as you walk along the views change. We spent the evening in Williams having dinner and being entertained by a shoot out in the middle of town. As you see above, Charlotte got up close and personal to one of the stars of the show and not to be out done I found me a hussy. Fun was had by all!!

Thursday was a down day for Charlotte and I while Phil and Casey explored the Painted Desert and the Petrified Forrest. Tomorrow is moving day. On to St. George, Utah.

From 7000+ feet, Williams, AZ

Saguaro Cactus on Route

Fire along I17

We'll be com'n round the mountain!!

Chapel of the Holy Cross. Built into the side
of the mountain. Took one year to build.

Natures beauty all around.

and more.....

and more

Downtown Sedona.

More down town.

Sedona is very artsy with sculptures scattered though out

Beauty resides in town as well

This type of view surrounds you.

Down the road.

They serve some wonderful food to boot!!

Guess who's this wasn't.

We arrived in Williams, AZ after a brief stop for a friend in Anthem, AZ. Highway 17 north to Flagstaff was strewn with accidents including a brush fire caused by a truck fire. It was a small box truck that burned to the ground. We were stopped dead for at least an hour.
As you can see from the photos we spent our 1st full day visiting Sedona, AZ. Its truly a spectacle. Words can't describe the beauty that surrounds this place. It has become touristy off course but that still does not distract from the experience.
Tomorrow its the "Grand Canyon". Phil and Casey have booked a train trip up and back to the canyon. Charlotte and I will drive. The weather has been perfect. 27 degrees at night 75 during the day. No humidity.

Arizona, The Grand Canyon State

Interesting rock formations viewed from a rest area!

More of same. Interesting sign at the rest area:

We are now in Casa Grande, AZ in an RV park named Casita Verde not to be confused with Caseda Verde. The reason I bring this up is it presented one of those "you just had to be there" moments. We made our reservation on line as we travelled this morning. We seemed to be having a problem finding an RV resort in or around Casa Grande that was open. You see, this is summer time and all the snow birds in AZ have flocked back home. So the need for an RV park to remain open is minimal. When we found Casita Verde we were quite elated. Put the address in the GPS and looked forward to our arrival. GPS took us to the gated main entrance of Caseda Verde 55+ community. Making a very long story short, a nice lady arrived entering the gate and asked if we were having an issue. I explained our dilemma and she proceeded to tell me we were in the wrong place. Go down a block, turn right, go to the end of the street and voila you will have arrived. And, so we did!!! The office to the park was closed and we had no site information from our on line check in so we just picked a spot and parked. So far no one has approached us to move. On to Williams, AZ tomorrow. Hoping for a better arrival experience.

Las Cruces, NM

Mountain Range View From Las Cruces

We trekked across Texas south of Dallas/Ft. Worth down I 20 towards a hook up with I 10 again. We passed thru some familiar territories, Abilene, Sweetwater, Odessa, Pecos and finally El Paso. The scenery was not overly exciting. Prairie dotted with oil wells, and loads and loads of oil and gas related businesses. Speed limit was 80 mph for most of the way but that was out of reach for our unit towing a car. El Paso is a thriving city and as one passes through it seems relatively newish. I'd say they have seen a lot of growth in the past 20 or so years. We are staying in a very nice RV park just off I10. Went out to dinner at a 5 star (google map rated) Mexican Restaurant named Habanero's. It was delish!! And of course while in "New" Mexico we had to eat Mexican. We are off to Casa Grande, AZ tomorrow as a moving on leg to Williams, AZ on Monday.

Whip In Rv Big Spring, TX

Quaint little bar and grill called Lumbre Bar and Grill

Still having fun!!!!

Day five was another moving on day. I20 West south of Dallas and Ft. Worth. Light rain early in the morning gave way to overcast skies and then sun shine!  We arrived at Whip In Rv just east of Big Springs, Tx around 4pm. Set up and immediately began looking for a place to dine out. Phil didn't want to have to do dishes again tonight. We found Lumbre Bar and Grill in downtown Big Springs and it did not disappoint. Beer was cold and the food tasty. Dairy Queen afterwards. I'm having a heck of a time watching my weight. Its all coming to the forefront if you know what I mean.😬 The plan is to head to Las Cruces, NM tomorrow..
