Noted to have the cleanest air in USA. You can see up to 125 miles away. |
It is truly a wonder. |
Ever had that sinking feeling?? Well Charlotte did the night we arrived in Williams. We have a Sleep Number bed in the coach which really is a fancy blow-up bed. You guessed it, Charlotte's side of the bed sprung a leak. As a result, we have extended our stay here in Williams to Wednesday AM so we can have a new bed bladder next day aired to us so we can lift Charlotte's spirit. Minor bump in the road.
As you can see by the photos we did make it to the Petrified Forest and Painted Desert yesterday. It is about 150 miles east of Williams but so well worth the drive. Once you arrive at the entrance to the park you have at least 28 miles of spectacular beauty before you. As I said above, photos just don't do it justice. As the sun moves across the sky the contrasts and colors continually change. I believe this is considered high country desert. Tuscon/Phoenix is low country desert and Williams is just plain high country. Pine studded mountains surround us here. I think we have now covered the gamut of geography and geology here in Arizona. Off to taste a little wine today in Prescott and Sedona , maybe....?
We certainly do have a very nice variety of landscapes in this great country! You are doing a good job of capturing the sights. Poor Charlotte! Hope she gets a good night's sleep real soon.
